Big day for boys, Another 1st

Today was a big day for both boys. We are to that stage in life where we get to add another doctor to our "list". The Orthodontist! Yep. They are both starting a 2 stage process of ortho work. Kyle gets to experience having his upper pallet expanded and top front braces while Tyler just gets the top front braces.
Since Kyle's process is more involved he will not be getting his braces for a while. He has to go through the process of expanding his top pallet before he will see a different "smile". He was fitted for "rings" today and is having to wear spacers between his top molars. The spacers will help the rings fit better and not hurt as much when they are permanently attached. The rings will hold his pallet expander in place that will fit in the top of his mouth.

Tyler on the other hand gets to jump right to having braces and he got those put on today.

Here is a before and after picture. He is such a cutie! I can't wait to see how even more handsome he will be once his braces come off.

He is such a cutie and yes, I can't wait to see his smile when its prefect!!

It's also amazing how much he looks like dad!! LOVE it!

I can not believe that we are at the stage of braces either. And, yes he looks so much like dad. He looks more and more like his dad too, the older he gets.

I feel so bad for him. His teeth and mouth were so sore this morning. Hopefully it will not take too long for his body to adjust to having the braces on.

I stopped by your blog and I see you have Autism references. Are you familiar with that? I have a step-son with PDD NOS. Live is interesting with that. Your son has a beautiful smile!==Take Care, Renee

PS. Wish I was in Arizona to watch the CUBS in spring training!

Amy I was so excited to see you answered my daily question this morning!! It made my day!! I hope you keep playing all week!! How's Tyler doing with his braces? I hope he's handling it ok. One of my students got braces (top and bottom) the EXACT same day as Tyler, she's a fifth grader too, and she was in pain! I thought about Tyler and was hoping he wasn't too sore!! Anyways, I love you bunches!!

Hey Amy it's Jen's friend Bonnie. My oldest son had to go through the expanding of the pallet when he first got his braces. I was so happy when the expander came out, we hated turning the key every night to expand the pallet. Congrats on being a featured blogger today at Jen's blog.
